Information for the Trainee/Apprentice

This is a trainee/apprenticeship  that allows you to work towards receiving National Accreditation whilst employed.

Industrylink is a leading private training provider and has developed the training curriculum within the parameters of the National Training Package. These qualification gained is equivalent to any other Tertiary qualification, with the difference being that you will be receiving on the job skills and training.

What’s in it for me?

  • You will receive the majority of your training on the job. You are not required to attend external courses, as most of the training is provided on-site and on-the-job.
  • No fees are payable by you.
  • You will be paid as agreed by your employer or under your current agreement, that will not change.
  • On successful completion of your traineeship you will receive National Accreditation that can be used to either further build your career in the Hospitality Industry or further develop your career path in a variety of industries.
  • You have the full support and commitment from your employer and from industrylink to ensure the program suits your learning needs and that the outcomes meet or exceed your expectations.

  • Statement of Attainments are issued at any time throughout the Traineeship/Apprenticeship.

What is competency based training?

Competency Based Training is flexible workplace training that recognises the skills that you already have and supports you to broaden your knowledge, competency and success in your chosen field. There are three components that make up Competency based training:

  • ATTITUDE
  • KNOWLEDGE
  • SKILLS

Our program is designed to foster and extend these characteristics within the workplace and help you achieve professional opportunities and goals.

How do I register?

When you register in the Trainee/Apprenticeship, you will be required to attend another workshop to complete a series of forms that registers you as a Trainee/Apprentice

What will I have to do?

As a Trainee/Apprentice registered with industrylink, you are asked to participate successfully in the following areas:

  • Maintain a positive, professional and customer focused attitude at all times.
  • Be motivated in your training, by willingly participating in the training program and meeting the objectives as outlined in your Learning Agreement.
  • Perform in your work to the best of your ability to achieve the standards set by your organisation.
  • Actively participate at all times including all on-the-job instruction, seminars and all self-paced learning assignments as directed by your workplace trainers.
  • There will be some testing, but it will be workplace specific. These self-paced assignments will be started on the job, but will be completed off the job within agreed time frames.

Your responsibilities

Honesty
All trainees are asked to respect fellow workers, all customers and others they come in contact with from day to day. Honesty to your employer, your workplace trainer and assessor regarding course content, assignments, your participation and growth in the industrylink Training program is critically important to achieve value from this traineeship.

Integrity
As part of the traineeship program you participate in self paced study. The training is conducted in the workplace and on the job. This requires you to undertake a structured, supervised training program. It is essential you ensure that all the program content and test information is kept confidential.

Regular Attendance and Punctuality
Your job training and assigned projects are part of your job. To receive the full benefit from the training it is important to attend all scheduled training sessions and meetings.

Attitude
We encourage you to be enthusiastic with the willingness to learn, to listen to instructions, and to be pro-active in seeking out knowledge and assistance.

Confidentiality
Much of the information and technology which is available to you is confidential. This includes information about the Registered Training Provider. Do not discuss such information with parties outside the workplace; it is essential that you respect the privacy of others and behave in a trustworthy manner. You have an obligation to your employer not to divulge information that may otherwise be considered commercial-in-confidence, or pertains to internal processes specific to your workplace.

Safety
You have a duty to perform your work in a safe and conscientious manner, and observe all workplace safety regulations and standards. Please contact your immediate supervisor if you require guidance.

Trainee Obligations
Self paced learning assignments must be completed within the agreed time frame. Please at all times feel free to discuss any aspect of the program, such as content, assignments or time frames with your Assessor. Remember to raise these issues as they arise. Attend all planned training and briefing sessions on time and be well prepared. Meet regularly with your trainer and assessor to review your progress. If you plan to leave your employment for any reason, it is important that you arrange an exit interview and final appraisal to obtain recognition for attainment of completed training. This information is forwarded to industrylink and recorded on your personal file.

Employer Responsibilities

IndustryLink is committed to delivering a high standard of training designed in a structured but flexible framework using suitably qualified trainers to achieve the desired outcomes. As necessary, trainers liaise with the workplace Supervisors and Managers to develop and monitor your training and your progress and to ensure your understanding of and success with the training program.
