FAQ for Students
Q. Does the course cost me anything?
A. If it is a government funded course and you are eligible for the traineeship/apprenticeship and don’t hold any prior qualifications, then the course is funded and supported by your employer.
Q. How long will the training take me to complete?
A. This can vary on the following:
• your commitment to your training
• the course you have selected to undertake
• your employment status, i.e full-time/part-time
• your prior experience in the industry
• your prior qualifications
All courses delivered industrylink are self paced, ie. you can fast track and complete the traineeship/apprenticeship at your own pace and will not be disadvantaged by others in your group or your workplace.
Q. Does my rate of pay change if I undertake the training?
A. If you have been employed as a trainee/apprentice, you will be paid accordingly (this is an agreement between your self and your employer).
Q. How am I assessed?
A. All training and assessing is conducted on-the-job including activities, verbal assessments and practical application. Vocational Training relates directly to workplace training and is therefore identifying skill acquisition, underpinning knowledge and attitude.
Q. Are the assessments set for me or can I request readiness for assessment.
A. Dates and times for assessments are made at a conveniently mutual time for both parties, however leading up to the assessment, if you feel you are not quite ready to be assessed, you need to notify the assessor 24 hours prior and another time will be made.
Q. Are all qualifications recognised nationally?
A. Yes. All training delivered by industrylink meets industry standards and therefore qualifications have the Nationally Recognised Training logo on them with a certificate number and industrylink’s National Provider Code.
Q. If I decide to leave my workplace, can I transfer and continue my training elsewhere? If so, is there a penalty attached?
A. Yes. industrylink will be happy to place you with one of their other existing clients where you can continue your training or you can select your own new workplace where training can be transferred at no cost to you.
Q. Why should I register with industrylink?
A. Industrylink have appointed a team of skilled professionals with current and updated industry experience, therefore implementing and developing training that is relevant to our industry today. We employ a young team of energetic staff that are passionate in “developing young individuals”.
By registering with industrylink it is an opportunity to update and professionalise your skills whilst gaining Nationally Accredited Certificaton.
Q. How much time do I need to commit to training?
A. The majority of the training is conducted on-the-job partaking in daily work duties, therefore face to face student contact hours per month will not exceed 12 hours.
CUSTOMISED AND SPECIALISED COURSES
• Industrylink can customise short courses to meet organisation’s specific needs. To ensure a subsidised course fee, the customization must fit within the National Training Framework, otherwise a cost may be incurred by the employer at a negotiated price.
• Customised courses count towards an accredited certificate that can be pursued at a later stage. Statements of Attainment are issued as formal documentation of units successfully completed.
