Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the training last?
Anywhere from 3-36 months. The length of training depends on the participant’s prior experience in the industry, their employment status, commitment to the traineeship and the course they have enrolled in.
How much does it cost me?
No out-of-pocket expenses are incurred by the employer, unless they wish to enroll staff into a course that is not funded, this is called a “fee-for-service”.
How is the program funded?
The State and Commonwealth Government funds the program. The employer is provided with financial incentive for supporting their staff through training. The incentives are deposited into the employer’s business account in two installments, i.e. 12 weeks after commencement and upon successful completion of the course.
What if the employee leaves before the completion of training?
Do I have to pay money back?
No. Once the commencement incentive has been deposited into your account it remains with you. However, no further funding would be given to you for this trainee. It is best to retain your staff for the length of the traineeship so that you can receive the complete financial incentive available.
Does industrylink provide me with new staff/trainees?
Industrylink have a database of existing trainees looking for employment, where you may take over the traineeship and the funding. The database also includes new employees with limited experience wanting to take on an apprenticeship. Industrylink interviews and sources potential trainees who have the right attitude and a passion for the industry. The employer will also have the opportunity to interview them prior to commencement.
There is no cost involved for the recruitment, provided that new employees are placed in the traineeship upon commencement of employment. This service is available only once you have become a client and have registered your staff with industrylink.
